<p>The cabbage soup diet is a very low calorie restriction diet.  so you&#8217;ll be eating much fewer calories than you and ordinarily consume on a daily basis.  But, beware the diet should not befallen for more than seven days at any one time.  The Soup consists of the following ingredients.</p>
<p>6 large green onions, 1 or 2 cubes of bouillon (optional),1 or 2 cans of tomatoes (diced or whole), 3 Carrots, 1 Container (10 oz. or so) Mushrooms, 1 48oz can V8 juice (optional), 1 bunch of celery, half a head of cabbage, 1 package Lipton soup mix, 2 green peppers,  Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley, curry, garlic powder, etc.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s my favorite way to prepare the cabbage soup:</p>
<p>Slice the green onions, put them in a pot and begin to saute with a little cooking spray.  Then cut the stems off the green peppers, halve them, then take the seeds and membranes out.  Chop the green peppers into pieces that are no bigger than bite-size and add them to the pot.  Next take cabbage remove the outer leaves, cut into small bite size pieces too and add them to the pot. </p>
<p>Clean carrots, cut into bite size pieces, and add to pot.  Slice mushrooms into thick slices, add to pot.  If you would like a spicy soup, add a small amount of curry or cayenne pepper now.</p>
<p>Use either beef or chicken bouillon cubes for seasonings. This ingredient has all the salt and flavors you will need.  Use 12 cups of water (or 8 cups and the V8 juice), cover and put heat on low. Let soup cook two hours. Season to taste with pepper and salt.</p>

<p>this diet, like we said earlier, is a calorie restriction diet.  This means you lose weight by eating fewer calories, plain and simple.  The Jenny Craig diet consists of prepackaged meals.  The first part of the diet has you eating only prepackaged meals with you add ons like vegetables and fresh fruit.  The ultimate goal is to teach you how to cook for yourself and for you to learn healthy eating habits, how to eat reasonable portions, and how to break your bad eating habits.</p>
<p>The prepackaged meals have been researched by Jenny Craig and they provide all the essential nutrients you need.  However, some people to complain that the meals are bland or that they lack a certain zest.  But by and large a majority of people find the meals satisfactory, filling, and serviceable.</p>
<p>The great thing about the diet is that you actually lose weight very quickly.  You will be restricting yourself to caloric intake of only about 1200 to 1700 calories. <p>The cost of the Jenny Craig diet depends on the type of plan you select.  There are short-term plans and long-term plans. Jenny Craig advertises an interesting statistic, they say that their participants spend only one dollar more per day than the average American does on food.</p>
<p>I spoke to a Jenny Craig representative on September 28, 2008 and was provided with information about the program&#8217;s costs.  The first option described by the representative is the 20 pounds for $20 program.  This is a 10 week program that includes weekly meeting expenses with a weight loss consultant but does not include meals.  </p>
<p>Meals cost between $12 and $18 per day.  This includes three meals, dessert, snacks and vitamin bars.  Meals consist of frozen entrees that are developed by Jenny Craig through years of research.  Most people find them tasty, filling and quite serviceable. At the end of 10 weeks if you haven&#8217;t reached your weight loss goals you can sign up for additional meal plans but you may incur an additional cost.</p>
<p>The other diet option that was described to me by the Jenny Craig representative is known as the Jenny Craig rewards plan.  This is a one-year program that costs $359 per year plus your food costs.  This plan includes weekly meetings with the consultant.  The rewards aspect of this plan is as follows: during the first 10 weeks you will receive a 10% discount on meals, during the next 10 weeks you will receive a 20% discount on food, and during the remaining 32 weeks you will receive a 35% discount on all meals.</p>
<p>According to our Jenny Craig representative, Barbara, the discount really adds up.  In fact, she says that you more than make up for the $359 fee.  So as you can see you&#8217;ll spend some money, but the Jenny Craig diet program is comparable to your daily food costs. <p>Dr. Robert Atkins created his diet plan in the 1970s.  He designed it as a lifestyle meant to be followed throughout a person&#8217;s life rather than as a fad merely to lose weight.  Dr. Atkins was a proponent of ketogenic fat burning.  This process occurs when participants consume fewer than 40 grams of carbohydrate daily.  The Dr. also recommended using dietary supplements and vitamins to improve health and maintain proper nutrition.</p>
<p>The Atkins Diet is divided into four stages: the Induction diet, the Ongoing Weight Loss diet, the Pre-Maintenance diet, and finally the Lifetime Maintenance diet.  </p>
<p>The Induction diet is very strict as far as carb elimination (20 grams or less per day), but generous in the allowance of fat and protein. It should be noted that low starch vegetables are the recommended source of carbs. This phase of the diet lasts 14 days and is followed by the Ongoing Weight Loss diet (OWL).</p>
<p>The OWL Stage is less severe and more carbs are introduced, but intake is limited to 40 grams per day.  Participants stay on the OWL diet until they reach their ideal weight.  Once this goal is attained, dieters transition to the pre-maintenance diet phase.  Here they experiment with the addition of carbs until their individual carb tolerance level is established (the total grams of carbs they can eat without gaining weight). </p>
<p>When dieters finally comprehend the total number of grams of carbs they can consume and maintain their ideal weight they&#8217;ve reach Lifetime Maintenance.  Here the participants will continually avoid processed foods, sugar, white flour, and hydrogenated oils and fats.</p>

<p>The Birmingham cardiac three-day diet according to legend was created in the Birmingham, Alabama Hospital cardiac department.  It was created to be used as a tool to help patients lose weight quickly prior to surgery.  </p>
<p>The diet been criticized as a fad diet for quick, short-term weight loss. This fad diet promises weight loss of up to 10 pounds in just three days.  The diet is also known as:</p>
<p>The Baptist Hospital three-day diet, American Heart Association three-day diet, bubba&#8217;s three-day diet, Florida three-day diet, three-day cardiac death, three-day army die, Hospital three-day diet, and a three day heart diet.</p>
<p>The promise that you will lose 10 pounds could conceivably be true.  However, realistically the weight you might lose is probably water weight and definitely not body fat.</p>
<p>The diet makes all kinds of promises including: (1) quick weight loss,  (2) cleansing, (3) increased energy, and (4) lower cholesterol,</p>
<p>So, curious about how works?  You are required to follow the diet exactly for three days of each week.  During the remaining four days of the week eat as usual.  If you want to lose more weight resume the diet for three more days. </p>
<p>So what can you eat? The birmingham cardiac 3 day diet is a very specific plan and you must follow it explicitly in order to see results. <p>Raw Foods diet sounds like a throwback to the early days of our society when everyone had a garden. The plan is similar to vegetarian diet plans in that most of the foods come from plant sources. Raw foods are thought to contain nutrients that are good for the body but tend to be lost in the canning and preserving process.</p>
<p>The raw vegetable diet focuses on eating foods in their purest form. In fact, fruits, nuts, grains and most vegetables can be eaten without any cooking at all.  Most of the meals in this diet plan consists of salads even at breakfast time.  Simple dressings like vinegar, oil or lemon juice can be used.</p>
<p>The carbohydrate count on this diet is low. Any processed food like breads, pastas, and rice are eliminated. Vegetables provide carbohydrates but in low quantities. Large quantities of vegetables have to be eaten to get a high level of carbohydrates.</p>
<p>Dairy products are not included in the raw food diet.  Dieters however can drink coconut milk.  While coconut milk does have the same consistency as dairy many dieters find that it tastes just as good.   </p>
<p>The raw food diet stresses water consumption this is good because there are very few other options on this plan.  However fruit juices that are 100% juice are acceptable along with smoothies and the occasional glass of coconut milk.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s no wonder people lose weight on the Raw Foods diet. No matter how many vegetables you eat, you won&#8217;t eat enough to keep from dropping the pounds. This diet can be rather bland even with spices on the vegetables since there is little or no cooking involved. </p>
<p>there are variations to the raw food diet.  Sometimes people will add processed grain and cooked vegetables.  others might throw in some cooked chicken, cooked fish, or other cooked lean meat.  Sometimes, however, only sushi, uncooked fish, is added to the diet.</p>
<p>Dieters using the raw food diet get all of their necessary protein from nuts and legumes.  If you exercise while participating in this diet you may find your energy levels flagging and the addition of extra calories may be needed.  However, scaling back your exercise routine while getting used to the diet is a good idea.</p>

<p>Nutrisystem&#8217;s most frequent complaint is that it is very expensive.  However, people fail to understand that the plan replaces every day food expenses.  In general, people spend at least $300 per month on food.  In some instances people spend much more.  The Nutrisystem diet is a food delivery plan.  This means that all of your food  will be delivered to you.  The plan does away with all other expenses related to snacking, fast food, and restaurant eating</p>
<p>You can purchase an entire month of food from Nutrisystem for a low monthly fee.  In fact you will likely be given a discount that well render your monthly food costs more inexpensive than any average month.  So the primary problem with Nutrisystem that it is too expensive just does not make any sense.</p>
<p>The other complaints about Nutrisystem include bad tasting food, high sodium, and that the food, and that the diet requires you to add fresh fruit and vegetables.  Let&#8217;s take a look at these complaints.  First of all, bad tasting food: this diet consists of food that doesn&#8217;t require refrigeration, however, this company has undertaken years of research to determine and perfect its taste and consistency in portions.  A majority of the people who need this food will enjoy it.  </p>
<p>The persons who find the Nutrisystem meals disgusting or salty are extraordinarily picky because most likely they are super tasters.  So these people clearly do not represent the majority of individuals that will purchase the Nutrisystem plan.  As for the last complaint about being surprised because you have to buy fresh fruits and vegetables, this is merely silly.  The Nutrisystem diet consists of prepackaged meals. The diet is designed to teach the body how to accept the right fats and carbohydrates to lose weight. To do this, the body needs to purge itself of the love of sugar.</p>
<p>The South Beach diet is divided into three stages.  The first phase is the most strict part of the diet.  We take the body back to Ground Zero.  Processed sugars are completely eliminated from the daily that.  That means no bread, fruits, rice, pasta, and sugary snacks.  The theory at work in the first part of this diet is that it takes you two weeks to make or break a habit.  The idea is that after two weeks time your body won&#8217;t remember its sugar cravings.</p>
<p>if you make it through phase 1 you&#8217;ll find that phase 2 is much less restrictive.  All of those foods that we ban in the first phase are slowly reintroduced.  Doing this instructs your body how to manage sugar and you learn portion control.  You will stay in this phase of the diet until you reach your weight goal.</p>
<p>the last phase of the diet is referred to as the maintenance phase.  at this point the diet you&#8217;re allowed to choose foods that keep your weight stable and that your ideal weight.  However it&#8217;s important to eat enough food so that you don&#8217;t feel deprived.  The South Beach diet book that I&#8217;ve linked below contains hundreds of rescues for each phase of the diet.  As you come to learn each phase has its own recipes and its own foods.  In fact dieters are largely encouraged to eat low-carb meals.  South Beach diet considered one of the healthiest because you prepare your own food using fresh fruits, healthy ingredients, and lean meat.</p>
<p>South Beach dieters with children at home will likely need to prepare two meals. Another solution is making a starch for the kids to add to the meal that has already been prepared. Potato and pasta lovers will be tempted to add those carbs to their plate, but they must resist or they will not lose the initial pounds in the first two weeks.</p>
<p>Hundreds of stores nationwide carry namebrand products at how the South Beach logo.  In fact the South Beach diet plan also has its own line of snacks and frozen meals.  However vegetarians may have a difficult time in the first two weeks of the diet because the diet is limited to meat vegetables and nuts.  if you&#8217;re not a big fan of meat and vegetables the first 14 days might be very hard.</p>

<p>The Nutrisystem is marketed in magazines, newspapers, on television and on the internet, it is everywhere.  In fact, many celebrities use the plan and act as spokespersons.  Followers on average lose about 35 pounds and some people lose substantially more even more than 120 pounds.</p>
<p>NutriSystem started off with most of its clients being women. Now, they offer a men&#8217;s plan and a senior adult plan for both men and women. Their website also states that they have plans for vegetarian dieters and those suffering from Type II diabetes.</p>
<p>The Nutrisystem Diet uses the glycemic index to help people lose weight.  The glycemic index is a numerical system based on the fact that certain foods effect blood sugar in different ways.  Foods with a high glycemic index cause an insulin spike in the blood where insulin floods the blood stream.  This causes hunger to return more quickly after this type of food is eaten.  Low glycemic index foods provide more stable insulin production, are burned more slowly, and provide energy for a longer period of time during the day.  Low glycemic foods do not spike insulin and generally are more satisfying.</p>
<p>This is a meal delivery plan. Food provided by NutriSystem is shipped to your home every four weeks. The process used to package the foods means that they do not need to be refrigerated. Easy to follow instructions tell you how to prepare each dish.</p>
<p>The food is proportioned to provide nutrients and low glycemic index foods. These &#8220;good carbs&#8221; cause rapid weight loss with very little effort. According to the commercials, those who use the plan say that the weight literally melted off of them.</p>
<p>The plan does encourage participants to add low fat milk and dairy, salads, and fruits to each NutriSystem meal. The main concern is the carbohydrates that we eat. Protein is protein, but carbohydrates aren&#8217;t all the same which is evidenced by the numbers reached through the glycemic index. Processed carbohydrates raise blood sugar, while those that are made of whole grains stabilize it.</p>
<p>The Nutrisystem Diet does not require exercise and its designed to work without it.  However, if you do exercise while eating Nutrisystem Meals undoubtedly you&#8217;ll lose weight even faster!</p>
<p>A criticism of the Nutrisystem Diet is that it is too expensive.  However, what most people don&#8217;t realize is just how much money they spend on food everyday.  When viewed in this context, a daily basis, the cost of the plan is quite reasonable.  And its ease of use is also appealing.  Nutrisystem requires no counting, no recording of meals, or any other record keeping of the sort.  You select meals, add some healthy sides and consume.</p>
